PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

HYDRATE and MOISTURIZE

Drink plenty of water a day leading up to your appointment and moisturize the area 1-2 times a day to ensure that your skin is properly hydrated. This will help your tattoo to heal well. Staying hydrated will also help to withstand longer tattoo sessions.

NO PARTYING/DRINKING ALCOHOL

Alcohol can thin your blood, meaning you may bleed more and feel more sensitive. Also being hungover for your tattoo appointment is no fun for you or your artist. Getting a good night’s sleep before your tattoo appointment will also help with pain management during the procedure.

NO DAMAGE TO THE SKIN

Your artist will do all necessary skin preparation, such as shaving, before beginning your tattoo. Shaving the area that will be tattooed yourself is not recommended. You could irritate your skin, making it impossible to tattoo over the irritation.

CHOOSE PROPER ATTIRE

Please keep clothing choices in mind to accommodate for the location of your tattoo. For example: wear a zip up sweater for sternum or spinal placement, don’t wear a tight sports bra for under-boob or rib placements, wear a bikini bottom and skirt for thigh or hip placement, don’t wear a hoody or tight shirt for shoulder or back placement.

Avoid 24 HOURS prior to your appointment:

– Alcohol, caffeine (coffee, soda, tea, energy drinks, pre-workout, etc.)
– Working out or activities that produces excessive sweating
– Aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, ibuprofen, painkillers, fish oil, blood thinners (do not stop any medication without consulting your doctor first)

Avoid 2 WEEKS prior to your appointment:

– Tanning or major sun exposure
– Tweezing, threading, shaving, waxing, tinting, bleaching, henna, or lasering

Be prepared to avoid sweating, swimming and direct sun exposure during the entire healing process (approximately 1-2 weeks)

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

KEEP TATTOO COVERED WITH FILM PROVIDED

Tattoos are open wounds on your skin and so, highly prone to infection. Keep your tattoo covered with tattoo film for 7 days. After you take the film off, wash your hands and the area with anti-bacterial soap and water, then pat dry. Start applying Aquaphor, Vaseline or A&D ointment 2-3 times a day until tattoo heals (a healed tattoo shouldn’t be scabbing or feel dry to the touch).

MOISTURIZE

Apply the prescribed ointment over the tattoo exactly as per directions. Its healing process takes a couple of weeks, so it needs moisture and protection during this period.

NO SOAKING

While the tattooed area does need cleaning, it must not be completely immersed in water. Showers are fine however bath tubs, jacuzzi, swimming pools, large bodies of water are not.

NO PICKING

Do not pick or pull the scabs and let them fall off on their own naturally. The area that was picked at will heal splotchy.

AVOID PROLONGED SUN EXPOSURE

As time goes on, it’s natural for a tattoo to go through changes, including fading. If you want your tattoo to stay looking fresh, avoid sun exposure and apply sunscreen to the tattoo.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Following Pre-care & Aftercare instructions is an important aspect to achieve the best possible results. You will receive these instructions in the email confirmation upon booking. Instructions for each service may be viewed on their corresponding page in the Services section.

Will the permanent make up procedure hurt?

Everyone has a different level of pain tolerance and sensitivity. Topical anesthetic is applied during the treatment to help keep clients comfortable. A small amount of discomfort is expected as no tattoo is painless.

How long will it take for my tattoo to heal? Will I be able to go to work?

Healing period can last 7-14 days with no major downtime. You will be able to go about your daily activities like normal with the exception of a few. As long as you follow aftercare instructions, there should not be an issue going to work or being out in public.
